"Janis was my friend for several years before I used her as a Realtor. I didn’t want to mix friendship and business, but then our mutual friends told me that if I wanted an excellent Realtor, I needed to use Janis. We had been sorely disappointed by the Realtor we used in buying our first home, so we were definitely not excited about trying an unknown person again. We were so glad that we used Janis as our Realtor – so much so that we had four transactions with her. Our friendship still remains strong after over 25 years.

In the purchase of our Los Altos home, no one else bid on the house because the comps did not justify the sales price. "We worked with Janis in three transactions over 30 years. When we needed to move into a bigger house in Menlo Park, she managed both the sale of our then-existing home and the purchase of our new (and current) one. The sales were linked and it was a difficult time in the housing market. "Janis has been our family’s Realtor for the past 30 years. We have had a total of 6 transactions with her starting back in 1991 when she sold our grandmother’s home in Palo Alto. She helped us buy our first home in Santa Clara in 1998. There were 32 offers on the property and we got it because Janis did such a great job presenting our offer in person plus she had an excellent reputation with the listing agent. She sold that house for us in 2007 with 16 offers and $75,000 over list price. We bought our next home in Campbell and sold it in 2020 for $149,000 over list price with 6 offers. "It was a true pleasure working with Janis when we purchased a new house in Portola Valley in August 2021. Even with all the restrictions due to the pandemic (limited home showings, frenzied all-cash offers, etc.) she patiently guided us through homes for sale for over a year! Janis helped us write offers, and as we would get feedback from sellers, helped us craft a compelling offer for the house that has simply become our dream home where we now abide.

When it came to selling our previous house in Mountain View, where we had lived for 32 years, she lent her expert hand to find us excellent repair people for the minor tasks that any home needs to be in perfect shape, as well as finding us a great staging company to make our home attractive to buyers. "Janis is the best! We were referred to her by friends, and spoke to several additional references before we started working together. One of them said that you feel like you’re her only client because she’s always available and responsive, even when she’s working with other people, and we found that to be 100% true.

We’ve had two transactions with Janis. The first was buying our house in Los Altos (we looked for two years, as we had a baby in the middle of that, and she had the stamina to stick with us!) She found a listing in a neighborhood we weren’t even looking in – and it turned out to be the one. There were six offers and ours wasn’t the highest; Janis had a relationship with the sellers’ agent and personally presented our offer which cinched the sale.

Janis also sold our previous home in Mountain View. It had multiple offers, and the initial sale fell through because the buyers’ lender had made an error in their loan. "I have known Janis for more than 30 years. She was recommended to me by friends in 1990 when I decided to buy my first house with another friend. First, we looked in Los Altos Hills but didn’t find anything. Then Janis suggested Saratoga. The house we bought was a real gem and one of the top 100 overviews in Silicon Valley!

"Our home buying experience with Janis Ahmadjian-Baer was excellent! She was on top of every detail from beginning to end. Our actual process was possibly a little different than some – we flew out to California from Massachusetts to see relatives in the Los Altos Hills area. We had mentioned to our cousin that we were thinking of eventually retiring out here, because both our children had moved to the West Coast and the weather is great. Unbeknownst to us, our cousin had set us up for two days of real estate perusing, with her real estate friend Janis, while we were out here.

We did not know a lot about the area and having a Realtor who had worked the Peninsula for many years was very helpful. We first started looking further south around Palo Alto and Mountain View. We quickly realized that was going to put us too far away from San Francisco and easy access to city activities and our children, so we asked Janis to concentrate in Belmont, San Carlos, and Redwood City. Janis was extremely helpful. We saw about 10 houses in our two-day visit – different neighborhoods and different housing styles.

Janis brought us to a lovely house on a cul-de-sac in San Carlos, where the house had a pool (we were not thinking about a pool, but the grandkids love it), location, and exposure, but it needed a little TLC. The price was good; we bought it. We did a full renovation after renting it out for a few years, so it was ready for us when we were ready to move to California.

Janis worked the background on the offer process and found out there were 4 other interested parties bidding on the house. She helped us to put together a competitive bid, and then she when in and made a 45-minute presentation about us to the Sellers. She clinched the deal! The funniest part of the whole story – we flew out from the East Coast on points and flew back with a new home!
